The Founding BDR role requires an ability to generate interest quickly and creatively — this exercise will test your ability to be creative and think through a campaign similar to the genre that we would run together.
- Read through the “Context” below about the mock company you will conduct outreach to.
- Complete Part I and Part II of the exercise in a Google Doc.
- Send the Google Doc via email to [email protected] (ensuring that the link includes view / comment access).

Context
You are a founding BDR at a software that helps new employees with their onboarding, the company is named OnboardEase.
You know the following about the company:
-
The benefits of your software involve:
- Reducing the time that it takes for new team members to be productive in their new roles.
- Time savings for HR teams that are putting together team member onboarding materials
-
Customers really love the following features:
- New Hire Dashboard: One central dashboard for all of the new trainings and actions that a new member of the team needs to take
- Analytics: You can easily pinpoint if certain team members have improved skills after trainings.
- Quick Videos: With a Chrome extension, team members can quickly film videos to capture their screen as they are doing something and then the product will use AI to automatically create a how-to guide.
The decision-maker in the buying process is the HR leader, often a head of people. Typically, your sales people first meet with HR team members below the head of people (HR Generalists, folks working on People Ops) before eventually moving up the chain of command.
-
You have happy customers and many customer champions.
-
Online, you’ve noticed that “wellness” is a current craze in the HR ecosystem.
